I'm getting pretty serious about being vegetarian. I'm also trying to cut dairy, eggs, and sugar out of my diet. I came to these conclusions after reading The Kind Diet and Skinny Bitch. I will include my recipes in later posts. This specific post will lay out my new rules and goals. I hope to provide incentive with style rewards. Everything will ultimately be intertwined. This is all part of the process of organizing my life and striving to be a better me.
DIET BASICS-
No Meat, No Dairy, No Eggs, No Sugar, No Processed Junk
The reasoning behind these rules are laid out in the books I mentioned. The reasons why I'm avoid these items is because I'm trying to loose weight, increase my energy, clear up my skin, and improve my mood.
MEALS
Breakfast(5AM-11AM)- Upon waking I will have either my crystal light or herbal tea. I will wait to eat fresh fruit until I'm absolutely hungry. If I'm in a hurry and I wont have time to eat for a while, I'll have a bran muffin.
Lunch(11AM-3PM)- Ideally, lunch will be a large leafy green salad with lots of raw vegetables and a light vinaigrette.
Dinner(3PM-7PM)- Dinner will follow the basic formula (1/2 veggies, 1/4 whole grain, 1/4 beans).
Snacks- Snacks should be eaten sparingly. They include nuts, veggie sticks, and other healthy options.
This may seem like a lot but I easily burn 500 calories a day with all my exercise. I swim every morning for at least an hour and I go for long bike rides a few days each week. If I have a regular schedule for when and what I'm eating, I'm less likely to binge or eat complete crap. I also eat my dinner on a salad plate for portion control so no meal is more than 300 calories. If I don't want or need a meal, I'll skip it. If I miss the designated time for the meal, I've missed the meal for that day.
